Information Technology Technician II

Description of Duties:

Provide an advanced level of hardware and software support, management and repair to Blinn College computers, computer peripherals, wireless devices, classroom associated audio/video components and general software support for lab, classroom, faculty and staff computers.

Required Qualifications:
1. Assist clients using complex software applications. Provide consulting, technical support, and training to advanced software users, and/or users of specialized application software as well as to technical staff. 2. Maintain desktop computer systems in collaboration with other IT Technicians and Server Administrator including distribution of Windows Updates, software and plugins utilizing Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and other automation tools. 3. Implement and Manage VDI platform utilized with lab, classroom and faculty computers. 4. Provide faculty and staff with projector operating support, basic repair and troubleshooting for display technologies (projectors and monitors). 5. Install operating system and required applications on new and used computers for distribution and usage by faculty, staff, lab, classroom and counter computers. 6. Document hardware and software installation procedures and problem resolutions. 7. Work with other IT technicians and Server Administrator in maintaining computer system integrity. 8. Other duties as assigned1. Strong understanding of Windows 7-Enterprise and Windows 8 operations, configuration and troubleshooting 2. Understanding of TCP/IP wireless and wired Ethernet networks. 3. Organize and prioritize requests for service and on an as-needed basis, works with vendor to resolve hardware and software problems. 4. Experience installing computer hardware and peripherals. 5. Excellent troubleshooting skills. 6. Ability and willingness to learn new software packages. 7. Update expertise through self-study and training. 8. Ability to provide information to end-users and peers on technical issues. 9. Team skills to assume and share responsibilities with others. High School Diploma or equivalent and A+ Technical certificate or equivalent. 3 years related work experience .

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Associates Degree in related field. 2. 5+ years managing desktop systems 3. 2+ years managing systems using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or similar management system 4. Active Directory concepts and management 5. 1+ years managing Virtual Desktop Platform. 6. Audio/video related experience. 7. Batch file creation. 8. Virtual desktop infrastructure usage and operations.
