Network Systems Technician

Description of Duties:

Network Systems Technician assists in maintaining the network infrastruture. The network infrastructure includes network and phone cabling, wire closet network switches, wireless access points and security camera systems.

Required Qualifications:
Installs and maintains security cameras and video recording servers. Assists campus police with retrieving video when requested. Maintains existing cabling for data network and phone systems at all campuses. Installs new cabling when requested. Configuration and installation of new and replacement wire closet network equipment. High School Diploma or GED. 3 years related work experience. Texas Drivers license in good standing or ability to obtain a Texas drivers license. Maintains backups of configurations of wire closet network equipment. Creation and editing of building floor plans with locations of cabling, security cameras and access points. Assists students and employees with network connectivity issues. Assists PC technicians with network cabling of offices moves. Travels to all campuses to perform duties as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Understanding of Ethernet based TCP/IP networks. Ability to terminate and test Ethernet cabling. Ability to network Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8 operating systems. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of experience in computer networking, ip based security cameras systems, and wireless networks.
