Description of Duties:

Gordon State College invites applications and nominations for the office of Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. The college seeks an enterprising, farsighted, and inventive leader who will build upon its strengths, respect its historical roots, and guide it into the future as it embraces the challenges of 21st century higher education in Georgia. Gordon State College, the second oldest institution in the University System of Georgia, is located in the town of Barnesville, on the southern edge of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. In 1852 the college was founded to serve the educational needs of the community and has changed over time to meet the needs of the surrounding region. Today, the college offers associate degrees in more than 40 programs of study and a growing number of baccalaureate degrees which presently include early childhood/special education, nursing, mathematics, biology, history, English, health services and informatics administration, and human services. Enrollment is approximately 4,000 students, with 1000 students living in residence. It is a close-knit college community where faculty members know their students by name, students forge lifetime relationships with each other, and alumni continue to visit the campus and celebrate their Gordon experience. Our school offers an intimate academic setting where its students can receive the individualized attention that only a small college can provide while creating an engaging campus culture which fosters student success. Overview: The Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs serves as the second ranking administrative officer and the chief academic officer of the college and is responsible for overall program management of a comprehensive and integrated academic affairs program.
