Assistant Professor, Graphic Design

Description of Duties:

Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, tenure-track, University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). Begins fall semester, 2013. Four/three course load teaching 1st and 2nd semester computer graphic design and courses in related areas based on the applicant's expertise. While open to students throughout the university, the position primarily supports the Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art, a major within the Department of Arts and Humanities. Additional responsibilities can include coursework within the Department of English both in their Professional Writing major and Digital Media Minor. The ability of the successful candidate to present new courses that help expand the curriculum is a welcome asset. Candidates with research interests in an area of Critical Race studies will be especially attractive. Additional responsibilities include participation in departmental, college-wide and university committees. The individual is also responsible for professional creativity/research that contributes to his or her field. MFA or terminal degree required; teaching experience preferred. The successful candidate will join a rapidly growing arts and humanities department consisting of 26 full-time and over 40 part-time faculty members in Fine Arts, Humanities, Communication Studies, and Spanish.
