Description of Duties:

The Dean of the School of Business is one of three Deans at Metropolitan State College of Denver. This position leads and supervises six departments: Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing, and reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Duties and Responsibilities Include: 1. Provide academic leadership in creating a vision for a dynamic and entrepreneurial 21st century School of Business (SCOB), ensuring that curricula and degree programs, both undergraduate and graduate, are innovative and promote currency in the field; 2. Establish and maintain high academic standards that lead to the School's sustained growth; 3. Provide leadership including engaging the SCOB in campus strategic planning; 4. Manage all aspects of the School's six departments, including personnel and budget, and recommend to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs methods for School advancement; 5. Represent the SCOB to the Provost/VPAA, to professional organizations, to accrediting bodies, and to the College community; 6. Expand and enhance the School's presence in the larger community via outreach and partnerships including fostering the growth and development of the Center for Innovation; 7. Engage in fund raising in collaboration with personnel engaged in public and private grant writing and additional fund raising; 8. Encourage, support, and enhance SCOB faculty professional development; 9. Serve as part of the College's senior management team including serving on the President's cabinet.
