Armstrong Atlantic State University, located in Savannah, Georgia, seeks a visionary and strategic leader for the position of Vice President for Advancement. AASU is a progressive unit within the University System of Georgia. Acclaimed for academic excellence since its founding in 1935, the University offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Education, the College of Health Professions, and the College of Science and Technology. Armstrong Atlantic State University serves more than 7,500 students of all ages. Forty-one percent are from the Savannah metropolitan area. Others come from throughout Georgia, the nation, and more than 70 countries. Armstrong Atlantic State University is located in historic Savannah, Georgia, a coastal city 250 miles southeast of Atlanta, Georgia and 150 miles north of Jacksonville, Florida. Savannah has long been known as a charming city, rich in beauty, cultural diversity, support for the arts, and opportunities for recreation. In the last decade the city has capitalized on its diverse manufacturing base, flourishing tourist industry, and thriving port to become the economic engine for the region. With a metropolitan area population of 285,000 and an adjacent six-county population of 471,000, Savannah is well-positioned for future growth. The Vice President for Advancement reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the President's Council. This function has recently been reorganized to focus on the roles of chief fundraiser and principal administrator of the following units: University Development, Alumni Relations, and Marketing and Communications. The Vice President is primarily responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and the stewardship of major gifts from alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations in support of the fundraising objectives of the University.
