Visual Basic Developer

Description of Duties:

Virginia International University has an immediate need for an experienced Visual Basic Developer. Responsibilities: - Implementation of additions, deletions, and major modifications to a custom Visual Basic application. - Design, develop, deploy and oversee the administration and maintenance of a custom Visual Basic application and the MS SQL database. - Document requirements, functional specifications, and participate in system and software design. - Assist in the analysis, design and implementation of a new J2EE based n-tier web application. Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience with Visual Basic development (6.x), Visual Basic.Net or ASP.net - Experience with large n-tier enterprise grade web applications - Strong understanding of SQL and current experience with Microsoft SQL server (2005, 2008) and MS Access - A solid grounding in Computer Science fundamentals - BS degree required (Computer science or related field) Additional Qualifications: - Experience with Microsoft development - Experience with Java development and environments - Knowledge of software development processes - Excellent communication skills - Written and Verbal - Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and motivation - Passion for creating new products in a detailed, team oriented environment - MS degree preferred Virginia International University (VIU) was established in 1998 with the goal of providing affordable, quality higher education for students preparing to meet the ever-evolving needs and opportunities of the 21st century workforce.
